Primo Legio Conticus completes the 2006 Season

11/29/06 Well it was another busy season. Filled with great games like NJ Nam, Red Dawn, Turkey Shoot and other fun skirmishes. We also had record numbers of new recruits join us, a total of 7! This has recreated the team into a stronger unit with a variety of styles and skills that promises that next season will be even better. ~Barbarossa

11/24/06 This sunday is the Pretorian's annual Turkey Shoot scenario game. Its for PE only and will cap of the end of the season. Everyone going should meet at Justin's house at 9am for the games! ~Barbarossa

Primo Legio York Nova Officially Disbanded

11/09/06 The PLYN has been officially disbanded. Wolf Spider and I, were both in western New York together going to college, started the new chapter. The tough winters up there made it hard to practice but we still managed to get a game in against the local PB club and beat them! But since the time both of us left the area, the chapter has faltered. This mainly due to the lack of support by the college itself. It kicked the club off the land we had been playing on and refused to support it due to "insurance" reasons. The whole PB movement in general there has fallen apart so we decided to call it quits and retired the Chapter. ~Barbarossa

9/23/06 So long and thanks for all the fish! We had a our last game with Zero Liability on their Norwich field. Good luck Tang with your move and new job out west. ~Barbarossa

9/12/06 The party keeps on going as we get another two recruits, Invasion and Ronin. Welcome aboard! ~Barbarossa

9/11/06 Well another busy month gone by. I swear I'm still working on getting the Nam pictures up! But we need to welcome Bishop to the team! Hurah! And congrats to Rominaus for getting shot and getting a Sticky Wound for it. Got some decent size events coming up. The last Zero Liability game is on the 23rd (see our forum for more details) and its looking like the PE will be going to the zombie fest of 28 Days Later in Mass. At that point we should be getting towards the end of the '06 season but we'll go out with a blast. And we have alot played over the winter for next season already. ~Barbarossa

8/03/06 I'm nominating, and awarding Barbarossa the Griffin Star for his role as General during Red Dawn scenario game! ~Ghost

6/26/06: Knock knock who is it? Whop ass stew!! PE is getting better than ever as another name enters rank: Rominaus. Who proved himself down in NJ with us. ~Barbarossa

6/17/06: Well its been a few days since we returned from NJ Nam and I am proud to report that the Vietcong took the field! Or rather held the field. Here's the AAR:

-----------------------------------------------After Action Report-----------------------------------------------

The weather first of all was perfect. The PE along with elements of other teams, around 30 people total set up its defense around Hamburger Hill an hour before game on. When game on did happen we encountered heavy attacks from a group of 40. Wolf Spider lead a counter attack on the right flank with YD and Team PUD and did some good until an additional 50 Americans attacked with elements of Blue's Crew and swarmed the field. From then on HH went back and forth as all meat grinder hills should, but we held onto Saigon and the US Field Hospital until 2:30 when it was turned over to the enemy. Meanwhile every 15 minutes the helo continually dropped US Special Forces behind us taking troops away from our front line. During the night game where we managed to steal all the US flags out of Saigon. Sunday had Saigon in US hands were we failed to take it back but there were some good tank battles with Blue's Crew near the VC FH as well. But in the end the VC were declared the winners! ~Barbarossa

6/06/06: AHH! 666 its the end of the world... Or only 3 more days until we leave for NJ Nam! Hurah! And we've got on board another star player, Dark! Welcome to the team. Also in other news, the pre-season news is sent to the hall of records. ~Barbarossa

5/27/06: Our team practice has been switched to the Cement Yard this sunday the 28th. We'll be meeting early at 10 to go over team tactics before the regular games start. We need to get ready and stay frost for NJ Nam which is only 2 weeks away. That is all. ~Barbarossa

5/14/06: It's my pleasure on behalf of Barbarossa and myself, to announce Wolf Spider's promotion to Tribunus. Spider has been with us since the beginning, and much of the mold of this team as well as our style of play is highly due to his ideas and contributions. This has been a long time coming, congradulations Ross, you deserve it. ~Ghost

Primo Legio Conticus starts the 2006 Season!

5/07/06: The '06 season is shaping up to be our busiest yet! Already we have our first medal awarded to Ghost! Finally after years of toil he is awarded his first... STICKY WOUND! Thanks to some cheating speedballers who were shooting hot. Also this weekend has us up at Norwich playing with Zero Liability. That should be a good time. And the early bird pre-registration for NJ Nam! is this Wednesday, otherwise it goes up 5 bucks. ~Barbarossa

Pre-Season (1/01/06 - 5/06/06)

4/11/06: The PE ranks swell once again as JT joins the force! With him comes a solid defender and some serious firepower! ~Barbarossa

4/08/06: What a great game at Strategy Plus, despite the raining freezing weather. Red Dawn was a pure pleasure to be a General in and was my first time. Luckily I had some great players with me and the Pretorians, to name a few the Storm Claws who took MVT for their tenacious D of the village and hard work through out the day. And our own Wolf Spider got the Most Extreme Play of the Day! Good game all!

-----------------------------------------------After Action Report-----------------------------------------------

The weather was a serious trouble as it was raining all day and even sleeting at some points! The beginning of the day started with a siege in the village of Calmaut by the Russians. The Wolverines' main body launched into the Russian rear. But the Russians turned 180 and hit the main body and destroyed it. And within minutes they took over the Wolverines base. About and hour and a half later 5 out of the 8 village defenders broke out with support squads and make it back to my base after about 1 1/2 hour of siege As the cold intensified the Wolverines pressed on sacked several Russian forts and supply bases. In the mid afternoon it was 3125 Wolverines and 3850 Russians with one final fight to go. Due to the freezing weather there would be one final game of winner takes all capture the flag match where the Wolverines stormed over the Reds and won the game! ~Barbarossa

3/28/06: Well looks like I'm going to be the General of the Wolverines in Strategy Plus' Red Dawn scenario game. Everyone check it out here and give your support to the Freedom Fighters as we attempt to liberate our town from the clutches of the Soviet Invaders! ~Barbarossa

3/23/06: We had a great game on the 18th playing with Zero Liability! They have a great field and a good crew of people. Assualting the various bases was a wicked good time. Also I am pleased to announce that we have a new member who joined us, Snake Eyes! He's a solid player for sure who will only strengthen our team. Congrats! Here's a pic of us from the Zero game. ~Barbarossa

3/20/06: A lot of planning is going on in the VC forum for the NJ NAM game. Its shaping up to be something very cool I am thinking. Check out the link to the forum in the our team's war room forum. ~Barbarossa

2/24/06: The PE had a good time at Team PUD's Oh Shit My Balls Are Blue!! III. We learned important lessons that will strengthen our team like better communication and playing within well defined boundries! Sorry Bendy and Punisher for making you chase me. Anyway we look forward to the next one. Winter Balls' pictures are up here. And no embarrassing photos of Wolf Spider this time... sorry ladies! Also season 05's news has been sent to the archive. ~Barbarossa

Primo Legio Conticus starts the 2006 pre-season!

2/04/06: Well you might have seen that in the February edition of Paintball 2 Xtremes that the Pretorian Elite and TEAM PUD was listed! For our game in Cali. And I quote: "...and MVT for The SLACRS went to Team P.U.D. TAW puts on a great game as evidenced by the fact that so many teams traveled so many miles to be there. The Stone Cutterz drove from Winnemucca, Nevada. Dan Straka (Barb) of the Praetorian Elite left the rest of the team at home but made the long journey from Hamdon (Hamden ~ Barb), Connecitcut by himself to play this game. Team P.U.D. flew in from Massachusetts and took the MVT."

Some of the PUDs and I even got into a picture in the mag. Pretty neat. But back to buisness we got the Oh Shit My Balls Are Blue!! III coming up in 2 weeks and Ghost and I want to meet the weekend before to review tactics and hang out. Hopefully the 11th if everyone is ok with that. Let us know. ~Barbarossa

Season Three (5/16/05 - 12/31/05)

Primo Legio Conticus completes it's third season!

12/31/05: Its been a long extended season but good one! Found a new field with a great bunch of woodsball players still active. Got to play with Flea today, as he took a break from saving the world. Pics of the '05 season are up here, in the image gallery to prove he does still exist. And I am pleased to announce that the the '05 Season campaign medals have been awarded to Ghost, Wolf Spider, John, Paul, and myself. Congrats guys! I'd also like to point out Ghost, Wolf Spider, and myself have completed 3 seasons and thus have completed our first Tour of Duty, and are now eligable for the 2nd Tour of Duty Campaign medal. (See Awards page) Its been a great 3 years you guys, I'm proud at seeing how far we have come. Happy New Year and see you in the '06 pre-season! ~Barbarossa

12/22/05: It’s been a busy two months for myself. Got a job and moved into a new place and with the holidays coming up forget about it! Anyway in the meanwhile I've gotten some possibilities for games for us. Our very own Flea is back in CT for a week and I've talked to Ghost and we are thinking that Saturday the 31st will be a good reunion game day. Also a bit further down the line Team PUD is doing another Oh Shit My Balls Are Blue!! III on Feb 18th. It should be a good time. See the team forum for details. ~Barbarossa

10/21/05: Got my pictures up and added a new image page with a few of my pics and some from Heather of PUD and War Diva of WATAG. Check them out, you might just have a few laughs. Check here TAW's Hang'em High or on the image eagle in the menu for full page (recommended for full effect). ~Barbarossa

10/17/05: Sorry for the delay folks, its all part of the show! I've been AFK since friday as I flew out to Cali play with out sponsor Jim and Team PUD. What a great time! We lost the game by a few hundred points but kicked some serious ass. Just two words: "Night Mission." It was amazing. I dropped my camera off to be delevoped and should get my pics up with the next day to two. Cheers to WATAG and 8-Ball, PUDS, Jim and Damian and Creek for making it one killer scenario game. ~Barbarossa
:UPDATE: Here is a picture of all us about to get ready to head out in the first wave, thanks to Heather for this pic!

(From Left to Right: Moe, Steve, Mason, Pete, Jim, Bendy, AJ, Barb)

Primo Legio York Nova is reactived!

9/19/05: The PLC is reactived until new management! Pretorian Frost will be the chapter's leader and the Tribunus will act as advisors. The PLYN is then currenty heavily recruiting to rebuild its numbers after Wolf Spider and I have left the area. It is currently in its Pre-Season and is preparing for its 06 Spring Season! ~Barbarossa
I accept the honor you have bestowed me. I'll do my best to uphold the ideals and fun that the PE stands for. ~Frost

9/12/05: The PLC increases yet again! I'd like to welcome our newest member, Pretorian Wraith to our team! He'll be a solid sniper type player so watch out for the grass knoll. Also I got my 3rd Sticky Wound award for the bruises in the thigh and for being a dumb-ass and not checking the rear. All I will say is watch out for ex-mil type guys, they're tricky. ~Barbarossa

Primo Legio Conticus continues on with the season!

8/30/05: We didn't get to play as much this summer as we usually do and Ghost pointed out a fine detail. That none of the members of the PLC are leaving CT to go back to college so we've decided to cancel the typical "off-season" for the PLC and extend the summer '05 season! We got new guys, new guns... so press on! ~Barbarossa

8/23/05: First I'd like to announce that we have two new Pretorians that have entered the fold! Pretorian Paul and Pretorian John have been accepted into our ranks! Congratulations guys. And also we'd like to thank Josh Castle and his crew for the fun exhibition round on their field. Good times all round.~Barbarossa

7/20/05: Wolf Spider and I practiced some full on sword fighting the other day... just in case we run out of paintballs in combat! A few huge bruises later (and nearly a broken hand) we came out prepared to do battle with enemies who oppose the Guard! Or frightened our friends...~Barbarossa

6/13/05: The Armotech Mod Awards for 2005 are up and there are some great entries so everyone should check it out! Here's the link: Mods. ~Barbarossa

5/31/05: I've been promoted to a Captian and a Moderator over at www.milsimog.org. This is a new forum that covers all of the military simulation side of paintball. Very informative! Everyone should check it out at some point. ~Barbarossa

5/21/05: As part of our re-organization of the PE the officers are proud to announce the creation of the Order of Allectus; A Council of Triarii! This is a order within our team for the non-officer veterans who have fought with us for years. This order has stiff requirements and the first member inducted is Pretorian Flea. Congraduations. There is a link for it in the nav menu but for you lazy types click, here. And some house keeping stuff, the old pre-season news has been moved into the News Archive. Carry on!~Barbarossa

Primo Legio Conticus starts the 2005 summer season!

5/16/05: Yes its that time again and the PLC is gearing up to go in hot! We are having our first recruiting met sunday the 22nd. The last pre-season was one of our most busy times yet, while large scenario games, getting sponsored, and meeting new teams. Let's hope this season is just as intense. ~Barbarossa
Yes! Here's hoping to a great season with some new blood and good games! ~Ghost

Pre-Season (1/01/05 - 5/15/04)

Primo Legio York Nova completes it's first season!

5/01/05: Yes, PLYN finished the last practice of it's first year of existance. Some great times had by all. The last practice involved two new players to the game, Christine and Nick. Hope you two had a good time and will play again! Both Frost and Parker have particpated and upheld the PE name and both have been promoted to Monitors. Congratulations are in order, you boys got your first V. Unfortunately this was one of the last games Parker will be playing with the PE as he goes his seperate way after college. It was great playing with you bud. On that note here's a link to the pics from this past season of the unit in action, PLYN. ~Barbarossa

4/27/05: I'm running Armotech Mods Awards Contest 2005 over at the Armotech.us/forum for best user modifications to Armotech markers. All should check it out, over $1000 bucks in prizes!!!~Barbarossa

4/19/05: Got some pics from the Fever game located here or for the full window click the image gallery in the menu bar above. And Wolf Spider is awarded the Sticky Wound for the hit he took in the chest (see awards) while taking out half the enemy detox crew point blank. Crazy times. ~Barbarossa

4/17/05: Wolf Spider and I took a PB vacation to Connecticut to meet up with Ghost and play in the "The Fever: Codenamed Trixie" at Strategy Plus with our buds in Team PUD and Yankee Division and our sponsor Jim from DMS. The day started out with nearly 130 players, and us on the Army side, which had 20 player less than the civilian side.

-----------------------------------------------After Action Report-----------------------------------------------

The morning was marked by us trying to contain the infected civilians and chaos ensued. For the first few hours there we were pushed back again and again, losing our first reinsertion point. Meanwhile the other team was scoring points somehow and we had no idea how to score points ourselves (due to some confusion from the higher ups it appears). But we did start scoring points when the Army took and held the village for 20 minutes and we helped scored major points when PE escorted a bomb squad to the village. PE then went to reinforce the flanks and rear area while the bomb squad struggled to go thru the 10 page manual to set up the bomb while the town was being over run. Yet they still blew it thanks to the sacrifice of many players. The day ended with a final attempt to hold the ruins of the village and knock the civilians off the field, we failed at this though PE did a charge up hill at their main line and got within 50 feet before being wasted. Still with this loss the points at the end were Army: 6500 & Civilians: 6000. Great job to all players involved on both sides! All PE involved had a blast. Hurrah! ~Barbarossa

Pretorian Elite VS AU PB Club Regulars

4/10/05: It was PLYN's first match and what a great warm day it was. PE started with a man lower and we lost the first 3 rounds due to this. Then AU gave us a Matt and then switched him with Gary to even out the teams and PE won the next 5 rounds! The game end with one more round of 3 vs 3 with PE only and winning leaving the final score PE: 6 and AU: 3. Thanks to Gary, Dan, Matt and Travis for making it a great day! ~Barbarossa

4/04/05: Update, the polls are closed on PLC coordinator positions. And its only 2 weeks until "The Fever" at Strategy Plus. I'll be pre-registering myself and a few others later this week so last chance to jump on board. Also I've added the PE's battle standard to the main page, one for the PLC, and one for the PLYN. Hurah! ~Barbarossa

3/15/05: It's the time for that annual event and the voting polls are open for the elected positions of the unit Coordinators in the PLC! Please all PLC members go to the forum to place your vote. Also April 16th is "The Fever" at Strategy Plus, check out the link and the forum for more info. ~Barbarossa

3/04/05: After some requests I've compilied the history of the Pretorian Elite! It is located here. For future reference there is an icon for it now in the menu bar and I've removed the area maps icon as it doesn't pertain to us as much anymore. Have a good Spring Break everyone. ~Barbarossa

2/27/05: I'd Like to annouce the start of a new company by my friend Dierwolf, a paintball guru. He's inventions, so far strictly for Armotech guns, will make their internals near frictionless! Check it out. Also updated Frost's bio with a picture! Ah fresh meat for the grinder! Also we're about half way thru the off season for the PLC so start hitting the gym to get pumped up. ~Barbarossa

Pretorian Elite is now a sponsored team!

1/25/05: We are now offically sponsored by Jim at DevilMountainSports.com! Busy times indeed! I've also put up pictures from Team PUD's Winter Blue Balls Game here. I completely recoded the image gallery as well, should look the same but load a hell of a lot faster. Thanks again Jim! ~Barbarossa

1/21/05: I am proud to award Barbarossa two, count em, two, distinguished service medals. One for his commitment to the team in playing almost every week during the season, and representing our team in various locations against other players and the creation of the PLYN.

The second is for Barbarossa's dedication off the field, the website, communication with other teams, and just generally his hard work, as people are starting to hear whispers of the name Pretorian Elite because of him. Your work hasn't gone unnoticed or unapprieciated.

I also would like to award Wolf Spider a distinguished service medal for his dedication to he team in participating in many practices and the two matches this past summer, his tactical help in the creation of the team's battle doctrine as well as his involvement with the creation of the PLYN. ~Ghost

The PUD guys are great and funny and it was a pleasure to finally meet Jim (bottom middle) from Armotech and DMS. We also made some new friends with Yankee Division who are some great players as well. Here's a group shot of us all, I'm in the lower right and Ghost is in the middle back. So thanks from both of us to everyone for the terrific games. Cheers! ~Barbarossa

Congrats to all those who made the practices and matches and besides the good stories that came from it Season 04 medals have been awarded to Ghost, Flea, Wolf Spider, and myself for active particaption. Pretorian Elite VS M-Crew

6/13/04: A best out of three match spanning two weekends comes to a close with PE victory! The first match was with a mixture of CTF, Elimation, and King of the Hill rounds left the score PE: 3 and the Crew: 2 with one draw round. While M-Crew was new to the area and played with one less man they fought hard and got us good several times. A few near broken bones and bleeding cuts later PE ended the match with a victorious CTF round. The Second Match a week later had all Elimation rounds as to M-Crew's request that left PE: 3 and the Crew: 0 with again one draw round. Hats off to a good game! Brand new Victoria medals awarded to all Pretorians who particpated. ~Barbarossa

6/06/04: NEW MEDALS and AWARDS INTRODUCED! Hands together for Pretorian Flea as he has designed and made all the great looking custom medals for this team. Hurah! ~Barbarossa

5/16/04: La la di da... hey anyone seen Steve? Did he just leave? AHH! IS THAT THE VC IN THE TREES???

No its just Pretorian Flea sniping from 30 feet up a tree... which means the first practice of the season was a success! Good times all round. All practices hence forth will be each sunday unless otherwise notified. ~Barbarossa

Pretorian Elite starts the 2004 Season!

5/11/04: What time is it? Its time for the 2004 season! HALLA! Here's some links carried over from the archived pre-season news: Strategy Plus in East Hampton, CT is hosting a Night Game on July 31! And CPSC Issues New Safety Warning for Paintball Guns! Fox Four has announced its scenario games for the summer, "Operation Barbarossa" set on July 17. More articles added too for your enjoyment. Its good bedtime reading. With that said its time to get ready for some practices. ~Barbarossa

Pre-Season (1/1/04 - 5/10/04)

4/14/04: The new season is coming closer to beginning, so we need people's work scheduals as soon as possible.  We're going to do something very similar to last year in regards to practices and trying to scehdual games, and as of right now, Sunday is still the day.  Everyone should e-mail me or Barbarossa at the Pretorian address to confirm that Sunday is ok. ~Ghost

4/12/04: Strategy Plus in East Hampton, CT is hosting a Night Game on July 31! Take a look, you use glow in the dark balls while fighting in a village. Sounds cool. ~Barbarossa

4/08/04: CPSC Issues New Safety Warning for Paintball Guns! Everyone should read this as I know a few of you are using old tanks. ~Barbarossa

4/05/04: Fox Four has announced its scenario games for the summer. This one should be good, its "Operation Barbarossa" set on July 17. We missed GI Joe vs. Cobra last year but this time hoefully we can get more people on board. ~Barbarossa

4/02/04: New section added to the website. Pretorians for more information please seek the answers in the forum. And one month until the 2004 season! HURAH! ~Barbarossa

3/07/04: We're about half way thru the pre-season and as such we're having an open, non-practice game set for March 13th. We'll be having some possible recruits be there and others so prepare. ~Barbarossa

2/21/04: Officer voting is over and through unanimous agreement Ghost is elected as Offense Coordinator, Wolf Spider to Defense Coordinator, and myself will be the Recon Coordinator. Congrats all round. ~Barbarossa

2/06/04: All active members please go to the forum and reply to the uniform and rank system threads. At the possibility of new recruits joining us and we thus becoming larger we may have to change to adjust. Also facing the aspect of many more matches in the 2004 season (some want to drive up from New Jersey to play us!) we've got smooth out some rough spots. ~Barbarossa

1/14/04: I thought Christmass was over!? But SIX, yes SIX logo designs are up here at Logo Contest. Look at them then vote for them in the Forum. ~Barbarossa

1/10/04: After review from some of the members of the unit I've added three new medals; Marksman, Sharpshooter, and the elite Sniper skill awards. More will soon be added. Also you know the Blue Streak balls they sell at Wal-Mart? Well I tested them and on average they broke around 2 - 3 bounces on the bounce test. Their shell is twice as thin as a PMI Premium and the fill is practically colored water. Manufactured by "BEI" (Brass Eagle Inc.) for $10.44 for 500 you get what you pay for. Just a heads up!

Also I've made a buisness card for us! (I've been passing them out to costumers at Wal-Mart) To allow us to get our names out and more teams to play. ~Barbarossa

Pretorian Elite starts the 2004 Pre-Season!

Every Season I am destroyed, every Pre-Season I am reborn! Now that the girls are scared its time to start training for the 2004 season, one which will be full of matches and battles. To better organize our thoughts and allow open dialogue to continue while we are at different colleges, our brand spanking new Forum, hosted by Voy.com is up! Another link for it is in the internal link section above. Email Ghost or I for the password, its for team usage only at the moment. More goodies, new team email pretorianelite@yahoo.com is up. ~Barbarossa

11/02/03: Reporting to you the Battle of Belfast! Wolf Spider came up to visit me at college and we played PB at a local field. The fighting started off in a village with room to room fighting and sniper fire from a 40ft bell tower soon spreading into the nearby fortified woods. They opposing force knew the lay of the land with superior numbers, making the fighting difficult as they stuck to a purely defense strategy. In the end the skills of the Pretorians won over the enemy, on average! Heh, it was a good time with experimental tactics of urban combat and even one speed ball game. Remember to keep sharp in the off season. ~Barbarossa

9/25/03: Ahh the 'easy' life of the off season, hope school is going well for everyone. The Forum, through inactivity was deleted by Aimoo. Fine with me, it was a lame system anyway. I deleted our account there and will be looking for a new server for our forum in the future. Also working on streamlining the site for easier navigation. ~Barbarossa

7/13/03: Our first match and a WIN! 8 games played over 3 hours leaving PE: 7 and TB: 1. Vistors, TB had one man over PE as well as some great shooters and superior fire power. Hats off to Tug Boatz for an great afternoon, looking forward to the rematch on your own turf. ~Barbarossa
